A brief introduction of Pudumadam

Pudumadam is a coastal village situated south east from Ramanad Dist. on the coast of the gulf of Mannar.. Majority of the people are Muslims . Almost all the younger generation men are working and doing business abroad namely Malaysia,Singapore,Saudi ,Kuwait ,United Arab Emirates.Usa, Germany and SriLanka to name a few. It is a beautiful costal village with natural beauty and a lovely seaside. Another main activity is fishing which is done tradionally.There is a government hospital, government schools, a few Banks, Post Office ,Telecom, and also the Panchayat Office.

Three beautiful Mosques are the pride of the people who have put in great effort to build them. The I-Kiya Jamaath is the coordinating body which comprises of the three Jamaath who are making a noble effort to unite all the Pudumadam muslims under one umbrella.May Allah Bless the noble effort…The Malaysia Pudumadam Jamaath is another coordinating body formed in Malaysia for the same.

A rough map of Ramanathapuram

Ramanathapuram is 600km from Chennai(capital of Tamil Nadu).There are express bus service and train service from Tambaram,near Chennai.Rameswaram Express and Sethu Express takes about 16 hrs. to reach Ramanad.The nearest airport is Madurai.There are daily flight from Chennai to Madurai. Pudumadam on the other hand is 25 km east of Ramanad.It can be reached from Ramanad via taxies autos, and also express buses which plies between Ramanad and Rameswaram. The first bus from Ramanad starts at 5.am.It takes almost one hour to reach Pudumadam.
